You can acquire useful power-ups by jumping into the butterflies that just fly around the area. But enemies aren’t the only elements on each stage. The closet level’s walls are shoe boxes, the garden level has gnomes to fight, and the creepiest level has you fighting ticks and fleas in a furrest on a dog’s back. The levels are always a treat to explore for the first time, and they’re all executed with a lot of imagination. Swiping up on the screen stuns enemies with a kick, but I ‘d often end up jumping instead of kicking, so I refrained from this action. You can also pick things up by swiping down on the screen, and you use this to pick up acorns for in-game quests as well as for freeing trapped allies (you’ll see when you play). Flying uses up one blueberry, which you can see on the Leafs-Up-Display on the top-left corner of the screen. Jumping is activated by tapping the screen, and a double tap will actually activate your wings and allows you to glide over long sections of terrain provided you jumped from a high enough point. One other thing I noticed was the camera doesn’t tilt with turns anymore like Cro-Mag Rally does, so the game can be a bit dizzying after a while. I’d prefer more vehicular controls (left/right tilt to turn, forward/back to accelerate/reverse), but maybe other players had an easier time with this than I did. You can use that little brake button to re-orient yourself, but after over an hour and a half of play I still found myself jumping past and accidentally walking around things I was trying to pick up. The major difficulty I had here was that I never quite got used to the whole control scheme. There’s also a very handy little button on the bottom-left to stop your character in place and allows you to re-center the accelerometer at whatever angle you want. Tilting in a direction causes you to move in that direction, although left and right tilts also re-orient the camera in that direction. You control the camera and your movement by tilting the iPhone/iPod Touch. You follow your character’s movements from an over-the-shoulder POV. Most levels take between five and ten minutes to complete, although due to the very sensitive nature of the controls on certain levels, you’ll want to be sitting somewhere nice and comfy when you play. It isn’t easy chasing a bee around, through tick, flea, and vacuum cleaner infested enemy territory, so you’re going to encounter a couple if different gameplay styles as you make your way through the game’s ten levels (save points at the end of each level). Bugdom 2 certainly looks a lot more polished and put-together at first glance, but hit the jump to see how well their 3D adventure translates from a keyboard and mouse to an accelerometer and touch-screen. This article discusses our present understanding of Adderall ® intoxication and examines 3 dogs presented to our practice after ingestion of large amounts of the drug.Read the Medication Guide provided by your pharmacist before you start taking amphetamine/ dextroamphetamine and each time you get a refill. Differential diagnoses that should be considered in cases of suspected amphetamine overdose are any other agents that can cause central nervous system stimulation, tremors, and seizures. Prognosis after poisoning with Adderall ® depends upon the severity and duration of clinical signs at presentation. Intravenous fluids counter the hyperthermia, assist in maintenance of renal function, and help promote the elimination of amphetamine and its analogues. Cardiac tachyarrhythmias can be managed with a β-blocker such as propranolol. Seizures can be controlled with benzodiazepines, phenothiazines, pentobarbital, and propofol. Treatment is directed at controlling life-threatening central nervous system and cardiovascular signs. Diagnosis can be confirmed by detecting amphetamine in stomach contents or vomitus, or by positive results obtained in urine tests for illicit drugs. In addition, Adderall intoxication in dogs has been reported to cause hyperthermia, hypoglycemia, hypersegmentation of neutrophils, and mild thrombocytopenia. Clinical signs of Adderall ® overdose in humans and dogs include hyperactivity, hyperthermia, tachycardia, tachypnea, mydriasis, tremors, and seizures. β-Adrenergic receptor stimulation leads to an increase in heart rate, stroke volume, and skeletal muscle blood flow. α–Adrenergic stimulation causes vasoconstriction and an increase in total peripheral resistance. Amphetamine and its analogues stimulate the release of norepinephrine affecting both α– and β–adrenergic receptor sites. For humans with ADHD or narcolepsy, standard recommended dosage is 5–60 mg daily. These agents are DEA Schedule II controlled substances with high potential for abuse. These drugs are used off label by college students for memory enhancement, test taking ability, and for study marathons. Knowing the exact agent ingested can provide information of dose labeled and length of clinical effects. Both immediate and sustained release products are used as are single agent amphetamine medication. Adderall ® (amphetamine dextroamphetamine) and a variety of brand names and generic versions of this combination are available by prescription to treat ADHD and narcolepsy. The American Psychiatric Association estimates that 3–7% of US school–aged children exhibit attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). What social issue or problem does your work address? What difference do you hope your book will make?Īs noted above, In Search of a Course is about two, related courses: a course for your life and a course for the University. Complexities and limitations of the main characters are revealed, but especially my own. In the end, I fashioned a narrative that was honest and intimate but not wounding or gratuitous. And so the book evolved, it changed, it became more personal, and I found the need to keep asking myself, “How do I write a personal, honest narrative while doing no harm to those I’m portraying?” After all, I’m writing (in part) about an ex-spouse and University colleagues. Where I wanted to stick with general, abstract reflection I was told to offer more of myself and of the people in my life. Indeed, more than one editor pushed me to reveal more personal truths. I’d probably sell more copies it were a tell-all book, but sadly it isn’t. Given the subject matter of the book-the failure of a marriage and, to some extent, of higher education-you can imagine how it could be a tell-all book, revealing scandalous secrets about my marriage and about life inside the University. Finding a course for the University entails a narration about how I got into academia, what it’s like to work in a university, and, most importantly, what higher education is all about-and what it should be. In my search for a course for my life, I recount my failed marriage, my loss of faith in things spiritual and academic, and the strength of a friendship that got me through it all. In Search of a Course is about finding a course for your life and a course for “the University.” The two courses interweave on almost every page of the book. If it came up 1, Bob would get the Ocelot, and if it came up 2 through 9, Alice would get it. Similarly, if Alice sold 10% of her Ocelot to Bob, he could give her 1 ETH and they could roll a 10-sided die. If it came up tails, Bob would get the Ocelot. If it came up heads, Alice would get the Ocelot back. If she sold half of her Ocelot to Bob as a lottery ticket, he would give her 5 ETH and she would give him a 50% chance to win the Ocelot by flipping a coin. In a recent blog post, Vitalik Buterin offers one possible solution: Alice can sell fractions in the form of lottery tickets.įor example, imagine Alice's Ocelot is worth 10 ETH. Because there are just 200 Wizard Hat Ocelots, any such oracle would likely be inaccurate and subject to manipulation. She could theoretically create a floor perp tracking the floor price of just Wizard Hat Ocelots, but that would require defining an oracle for the Wizard Hat Ocelot floor. However, her Ocelot is worth significantly more than the floor because it has the comparatively sought-after Wizard Hat attribute. Floor PerpsĪlice could also use her Ocelot to mint some floor perps, synthetics that track the floor price of Ocelots using a funding rate mechanism and an oracle for the floor price. Similarly, if someone initiates a buyout auction for her Ocelot later, it might not attract that much attention or liquidity, potentially leading to a sale at an unfavorable price for Alice. Because many Ocelots have already been fractionalized, she suspects it will be hard to attract enough attention to sell her shares at a reasonable price. However, for more run-of-the-mill NFTs, like Alice's Ocelot, the situation is a little tougher.įractional shares of her Ocelot would be a brand new token, and Alice would have to spin up a new market for them somewhere like Uniswap. This works very well for notable and unique NFTs that have a lot of market interest. As a result, the protocol implements a buyout mechanism enabling interested buyers to start an auction on the Ocelot at any time. ![]() This means fractional has to ensure this future sale will be fair and will actually happen. ![]() How can it be divided in a way that makes economic sense? fractionalįractional.art would let Alice fractionalize her Ocelot by selling tokens good for a 50% cut of the proceeds from its eventual future sale. Her Ocelot, however, is not naturally divisible, and does not generate any cashflows. If she wanted to sell 50% of a business, she could sell shares representing the right to receive 50% of the cashflows it generated. If she wanted to sell 50% of a plate of cookies, she could just sell half of them. Ideally, she would like to sell 50% of it. She doesn't want to sell her Ocelot outright, as she is using it as her profile picture on Twitter and is otherwise very attached to it. However, the project has taken off since then, and she would like to get some liquidity and reduce her price exposure. When she bought this Ocelot, it wasn't worth much. Imagine Alice owns an Ocelot from the Awful Hot Ocelots series. Mortys are highly speculative, and should be thought of as something between a protocol design and a thought experiment. They do not require buyouts or oracles, but instead rely on a random Martingale settlement process. Mortys are synthetics representing fractional ownership of classes of NFTs. The Little Mermaid, directed by Rob Marshall, opens in theaters nationwide on May 26, 2023.This paper introduces a new NFT primitive: Martingale shares, or "Mortys." She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters, and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric.
